In the study of Igbo language and culture, there are cases where one object may be used for different purposes. A case in point in this paper is ?m?nkw?. This paper considers this object, the lessons or messages it sends, depending on the situation or condition that it is used. This does not mean in any way that it poses a problem to Ndi Igbo with regards to identification and interpretation. This is because it is part and parcel of Igbo culture. This paper encourages Ndi Igbo on the need to understand these items and how to improve on its usage.
